Google 'Bike There' Petition

I don't usually get to political or cause-oriented, but I saw this today and signed it. It's a petition that will be sent to the good folks at Google. The hope is that Google will add a button in their popular maps section that will allow people to get biking directions, along with the current driving and bus options.

If you wouldn't mind, sign it please.

What's wrong with getting political? ;)

I've signed the petition, not because I ever ride a bike to get anywhere, but specifically because of this line: "The feature would take into account actual bicycle lanes from the locality being mapped". So maybe if bikers start using this service, they'll GET THE HECK OFF streets that are too thin to accomodate them. Like the North Avenue highway underpass. Jesus, please us! Are they trying to kill themselves?!

[I realize I've just sent posted this to the blog of an avid cycler. Let the flaming begin, I can take it!]

Too thin, too thin?! Like their skinny jeans, or their thin-see-through-threadbare recycled plain white t's (pun intended), or their thin tires with thin frame tubing, or like their perpetually thin wallets.

It's a sign of accomplishment for any rider to get through the narrow streets of Chicago. Everyone in the scene knows that the North Ave underpass is like running the gauntlet. If you make it through without being mowed down by a Range Rover driver, you can do anything... and get a thin toptube protector on your bike.
