Templo del SeƱor del Encino, Aguascalientes, MX

On the 2nd night in Aquascalientes, we were heading to dinner and saw this great square and church on the way. We had to stop for some pics and wander into the building as well. Please find some of those images below, and if you're ever in the area, make a stop.

Wonderful craftpersonship here...

(Do you see the subtle cross in the door?)

This final lady is not part of the church complex, but is on the square. Stately too...

Clifton Avenue Street Art Gallery, Chicago, IL

As I walked to the L one day, I saw a large mural down an alley and felt compelled to investigate further. So, I did. Coming down the alley it was also clear this wasn't the only art piece on offer. I began to shoot the artworks and the info on each artist.

Please find more about Chicago's Clifton Ave Street Art Gallery below. I would, of course, highly recommend this stop if you're in the neighborhood...

Wow, cool stuff, Chicago. Thanks for the fun find.

St. Burch Tavern, Iowa City, IA - Part II, Dinner

As I was heading back to Omaha recently, I decided to break up the drive by stopping in Iowa City for the night. And high on my list of dinner spots was going back to St. Burch to try something of the evening menu. Am I glad I did...

... beer after driving?! Yes, please.

Coming out of Cedar Rapids, IA - the Lion bridge Work Comp was very very good. Starting off strong, St. B!

Then onto the main menu... Me hungy! PS - who doesn't love the font and vibe of this menu!?

As it was rainy, windy and cold out, I wanted something filling, healthy-ish, and eaten with a fork & knife (aka, fancy). What would you have gotten?...

I also had my eye on a dessert...

I went with the Salmon & a side salad - it was all very good. Can't find a fault in anything.

And how could I say no to a banana split?! It was only $1 more than the other dessert items, so I "splurged". Like the main, this was very good as well. It wasn't three-feet of split either, just a simple banana and a couple scoops of ice cream. Dare I say "dainty"?

As I've said before, if you're inthe area, stop at this place, it's that good. I haven't even tried their fresh seafood on offer, like mussels, clams, crab, etc. They even do the ole "seafood tower". Fun.

Cowboys & Astronauts, Chicago (Andersonville), IL

I found this place looking on a manufacturer's website for a specific product. It turned out once I was there that they no longer had that exact product, from that exact brand, but they had such a nicely curated line of items, I was able to find something else anyways.

In general, this seems like a very wonderful men's and home decor store, tucked right into a very hip and happening neighborhood in the northern part of the city. In point of fact, I used to live in the neighborhood about 15 years ago. It has grown up a bit more, and some of the old haunts are still there as well. I loved this store and loved walking around for most of the late morning. Let's see more of what C&A offers...

... Excellent and shiny barware...

How about some felted wool wine glass identifier thingies... (probably make a great host/hostess gift, I'm just sayin')

Platters anyone?

Nice book selection...

Really well-done men's "apothecary"selection... (multiple shelves worth)

And finally, a very nice card section, some I couldn't help LOL'ing at.

To be clear, there is much more in this small two storefront location. They have men's clothing, home goods, men's accessories, and more - see for yourself...

I think you should plan to head up here for some holiday shopping and brunch. Do it! The area has a number of hand-made stores and the Swedish American Museum has opened a pop-up shop for Christmas - jatte bra!

Freddy Jones Band @ Hey Nonny, Arlington Heights, IL

A quick but awesome night in Arlington Heights. Hey Nonny is a formal concert venue, with food and drink attached next door. This area of AH is right near the Metra line and almost all new construction. They have condos, restaurants, and venues like this in a couple block radius. They're all grown up!

These guys were the reason to attend, and it was a very small venue, not packed in like sardines, but also very good sound and an excellent show. Loved it, will be back.
